Strategic marketing and sales expert, Alan Shafer, has been driving multi-million dollar revenue growth for high tech companies for over 25 years. With an impressive start as IBM Corporation's #1 Sales Representative in the country (out of 4,500 sales professionals), Alan went on to become the Director of Marketing and Chief Merchandising Executive for IBM's personal computer division.
His genuine passion for building long term, mutually productive business relationships put him in charge of major sales campaigns including the introduction of the IBM ThinkPad and IBM Aptiva products into the North American retail market. He is also responsible for driving IBM Consumer Division's success by generating $2.3 billion in revenue within three years of operations.
Building upon this momentum, Alan has established many professional relationships throughout his career that have contributed to shared profitability and benefits for all involved. As Chief Operating Officer of a Florida-based publicly held software company, he was responsible for $30 million revenue growth in a 3 year period. As Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of a high-tech start-up, he spearheaded the launch of revolutionary technology in the consumer electronics arena and generated pre-production sales volumes of more than 280,000 units.
Throughout his career, Alan's leadership and contributions in sales, marketing, business development, and strategic planning have earned him multiple awards and praise. In addition to his entrepreneurial and business development talents, Alan is actively involved with state and local Chambers of Commerce, Commerce, Industry Associations, and Economic Development Authorities. He also works with the U. S. Small Business Administration's Small Business Development Centers, as well as with SCORE Counselors to America's Small Businesses. He is an active member of Forbes Magazine's Business Visionary Council and served on the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement.
With a natural talent for numbers and people, Alan holds degrees in mathematics and psychology from the University of Connecticut, a Masters in Business Administration from IBM's Business Management School, and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
